Warning Signs

Comprehensive warning signs identification poster for Worldwide Suicide Prevention Day 2025, featuring immediate risk indicators, behavioral warning signs, and clear action steps. Created by My Safe Spaces with bilingual messaging to help communities recognize danger signs and take life-saving action.

This critical suicide prevention awareness poster is designed for Worldwide Suicide Prevention Day 2025 (September 10, 2025) by My Safe Spaces, focusing specifically on warning signs identification with the powerful message "Know the signs. Save a life." (presented in both English and Hindi: चेतावनी के संकेत).

The educational handout is strategically organized into three color-coded sections for easy comprehension. The immediate risk signs section (highlighted in red for urgency) identifies four critical warning indicators requiring immediate intervention: talking about wanting to die or kill themselves, searching for ways to harm themselves (pills, weapons, etc.), expressing feelings of hopelessness or having no reason to live, and saying they feel trapped or in unbearable pain.

The behavioral warning signs section (in attention-grabbing yellow/orange) is divided into two categories: Mood & Behavior warnings include extreme mood swings, sudden calmness after depression, increased alcohol/drug use, reckless behavior, and giving away possessions; Social & Physical warnings encompass withdrawing from friends/family, loss of interest in activities, sleeping too much/too little, dramatic appetite changes, and neglecting personal hygiene. This section includes a Hindi message emphasizing the importance of paying attention to changes in mood, behavior, and daily routines.

The action-oriented "What to Do" section (in reassuring green) provides clear, actionable steps: take it seriously, ask directly about suicide, listen without judgment, get professional help, stay with them, and remove harmful items. The poster concludes with the My Safe Spaces branding, the campaign theme "Creating Hope Through Action," and provides immediate crisis helpline numbers including KIRAN (1800-599-0019) and Vandrevala Foundation (9999-666-555).
